Neil Young & Crazy Horse extend 'Greendale' tour into 2004
Neil Young , who spent much of the latter half of 2003 on the road in support of a new concept album, will keep the tour-bus wheels rolling into the New Year.
Young and his band, Crazy Horse, plan to launch a new round of tour dates in February, beginning with a Feb. 19 performance in Vancouver, British Columbia. No venues were confirmed at press time, nor were dates for the remaining cities mapped so far. A list of cities where the tour will stop appears below. Additional cities will be added, according to organizers.
The tour will be booked into theater-sized venues, and will continue to feature the elaborate stage production and live actors used during the 2003 outing, according to Clear Channel Entertainment. During the show, a cast of actors and dancers perform on three different stage sets as they act out "Greendale," a concept album that Young issued in August.
During this year's "Greendale" shows, Young and Crazy Horse played material from "Greendale"--which tells the tale of a fictional family named the Greens who live in the fictional town of Greendale--during their first set. After a break, they returned to play a set focusing on other material from Young's career.
Crazy Horse's lineup consists of longtime members Ralph Molina (drums), Billy Talbot (bass) and Frank "Poncho" Sampedro (guitar).
