K.D. Lang to team with symphonies in 2004
Vocalist K.D. Lang will tour extensively in 2004, with a local symphony orchestra serving as her back-up band in each market.
The orchestral jaunt is set to launch in late April, and dates are scattered through October. Lang's itinerary includes two-night stands in Baltimore, Detroit, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
Lang and crooner Tony Bennett picked up two GRAMMY® nominations earlier this month, getting nods in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category for "A Wonderful World" and in the Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals category for that album's "La Vie En Rose."
"A Wonderful World," which is a tribute to the music of Louis Armstrong, was released last November. Lang and Bennett supported the album with a 2002 North American tour, and an Australian outing earlier this year.
"Invincible Summer," Lang's most-recent collection of new studio material, surfaced in 2000. She followed that album with 2001's "Live by Request."
Lang will be among the performers who will pay tribute to Sting during next year's MusiCares Person of the Year ceremony.
