Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony to perform at Houston's Super Bash
Other artists on the bill include Eve 6, Deana Carter, Trick Pony, Better Than Ezra, BR5-49, Reverend Horton Heat and Asleep at the Wheel.
The event, scheduled to run from Jan. 28 until Feb. 1, will feature performances on two indoor stages and one outdoor stage in downtown Houston, and will occupy two city blocks, according to the Houston Chronicle.
The paper reported that tickets will cost $20 per day or $38 for a five-day pass.
In what may be nothing more than unfounded speculation designed to peak interest in the event, organizer Louis Messina of Houston-based concert promoter The Messina Group insinuated that Hagar's and Anthony's involvement might turn out to be a reunion performance by Van Halen.
"Half of Van Halen will be there," Messina told the paper. "I don't want to start rumors, but I know the guys are talking these days."
Rumors of a possible Hagar-Van Halen reunion surfaced last month, with unconfirmed reports claiming that the group had teamed with high-powered manager Irving Azoff--who currently represents Hagar--and is eyeing a new album and tour in 2004.
Soon after those rumors surfaced, Hagar posted a message on his website, in which he confirmed that he, guitarist Eddie Van Halen and drummer Alex Van Halen were on speaking terms for the first time since Hagar and the group split in June of 1996.
Hagar and Anthony have remained friends, and Anthony has frequently performed with Hagar over the past two years.
