Cheap Trick Sets US Release Of New Live Album
Cheap Trick will release the second live album of their twenty-five year career on their own label imprint, Cheap Trick Unlimited, in late April. The release will take the unconventional route of being exclusively available through online retailer Amazon.com for a full two months before availability is extended to traditional music retailers both on and off the web.
The live release will make its Internet debut on April 20th via Amazon's web site and other retailers will gain access to the album on June 15th.
Cheap Trick will mark the Internet and record store release dates of the album with private live shows on the east and west coast which will mix into their existing tour schedule, which currently culminates in a special 25th anniversary concert in the band's home town of Rockford, IL on August 28th. A formal tour behind the new album is expected to fall into place later in the summer.
The recordings for ...Hangovers were culled from a multi-night stand at Chicago's Metro in 1998. At each of the shows, the band performed one of their first four albums in their entirety. The concept spurred a lengthy tour in which the band replicated the run in most of the major markets in the US.
The third night of the Metro stand was especially noteworthy in that it unofficially launched the Smashing Pumpkins' Adore tour when the band opened for Cheap Trick, unveiling the drumming skills of Kenny Aronoff whom the Pumpkins had recently lured from John Fogerty's touring band. Smashing Pumpkins members Billy Corgan and D'Arcy appear on two tracks of the live collection. Corgan contributes to the album's liner notes as well.
Tracks on Music For Hangovers include, Oh Claire, Surrender, Hot Love, I Can't Take It, I Want You To Want Me, Taxman, Mr. Thief, Mandocello, Oh Caroline, How Are You?, If You Want My Love, Dream Police, So Good To See You, The Ballad Of TV Violence and Gonna Raise Hell.
