Allman Brothers celebrate anniversary with New York City shows
The Allman Brothers Band marks its 35th anniversary next year with an eight-night stand at New York City's Beacon Theatre.
The group has confirmed shows on March 18-20, 22, 23, and 25-27. Tickets hit the box office on Jan. 9, according to a press release. The Allmans have scheduled a multi-night stand at the Beacon each year for more than a decade.
Before kicking off this year's run, the group is due to appear on the March 16 episode of "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."
Also in March, the group plans to release an as-yet-untitled live CD recorded during two of the group's 2003 performances at the Beacon Theatre; the group played a total of 13 shows at the venue this year.
The two-disc set will include the 15 songs housed on the group's "Live at the Beacon Theatre" DVD, which surfaced in February, as well as four additional tracks: "Every Hungry Woman," "Trouble No More," "Wasted Words" and "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl."
The Allman Brothers Band released their self-titled debut album in 1969. The group's most-recent studio release is this year's "Hittin' the Note," which is the group's first new studio set in nine years.
"Instrumental Illness," a track from "Hittin' the Note," was recently nominated for a GRAMMY® award in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category.
