Briefly: Alicia Keys, Michael Jackson, Warren Zevon, Dave Dudley
After entering the U.S. album charts at No. 1 and falling to No. 2 during its second week in stores, "The Diary of Alicia Keys " has returned to the top spot, according to industry sources.
About 370,000 copies of Keys' sophomore set sold in the last week, barely topping Toby Keith's "Shock'N Y'all," which sold about 369,000 copies.
The hits compilation "NOW That's What I Call Music! Vol. 14" holds steady at No. 3 on the new Billboard 200 album chart, and OutKast 's "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" jumps from No. 6 to No. 4. Rounding out the Top 5 is Josh Groban's "Closer."
Ruben Studdard's "Soulful," which was last week's No. 1 album, falls to No. 8.
The CBS television network reportedly is considering airing the Michael Jackson special that it scrapped in November. According to various reports, Jackson may grant to Ed Bradley of "60 Minutes" his first interview since he was charged with child molestation. The interview and special, the reports speculate, could air in January.
Radio-DJ turned trucker-country hitmaker Dave Dudley died of a heart attack in Danbury, WI, on Monday (12/22), the Associated Press reported. He was 75.
Dudley scored more than 40 country hits between 1961 and 1980.
A DVD featuring the VH1 documentary about the making of the late Warren Zevon 's final album, "The Wind," is expected to hit stores in March. Besides the original program, it will feature interviews with guests who appeared on the album and additional unreleased footage.
