Evanescence schedules new shows and make-up dates

Goth-rock sensation Evanescence gets back on the road in 2004 for a round of touring that includes make-up dates for some previously postponed shows.

The group's itinerary begins in Los Angeles on Feb. 11, and so far runs until Feb. 24. Three confirmed shows--in Saint Cloud, MN; Madison, WI; and Champaign, IL--are make-up dates for performances originally scheduled to take place in early December. Tickets for the original dates will be honored on the new dates.

Evanescence was due to mount a run through the Western and Midwestern U.S. in late November and early December, but postponed the outing one day before the scheduled kick-off. No explanation was given.

The postponement followed the sudden and unexpected October departure of the group's original guitarist and co-founder, Ben Moody, who bailed out on the group in the midst of a European tour.

Cold guitarist Terry Balsamo has taken over as Moody's temporary replacement during the group's tour behind its debut album, "Fallen." The album features the group's breakthrough hit, "Bring Me to Life," which helped spur sales of the disc past the 3-million mark.

Evanescence is nominated for five GRAMMY® awards, including Album of the Year and Best New Artist. The ceremony airs live on CBS on Feb. 8.
