Puddle of Mudd maps out more tour dates, names opening act

Puddle of Mudd , which later this month launches a tour to back its recently released sophomore album, has fleshed out the road trip's itinerary, and has granted the opening slot to Smile Empty Soul.
The two bands kick things off in New Mexico on Jan. 23, and plan to canvass the U.S. well into March. Tickets for most dates are on sale now.
Puddle of Mudd released its second album, "Life on Display," in late November. The set features the group's hit single "Away From Me," which is streaming at the band's website.
The group recorded "Life on Display" in Los Angeles, and co-produced the album with John Kurzweg and Michael "Elvis" Baskette, according to Flawless Records.
"Life on Display" follows Puddle of Mudd's multi-platinum debut, 2001's "Come Clean." That album spawned the rock-radio singles "Blurry," "She Hates Me," "Control" and "Drift and Die."
Smile Empty Soul is supporting its self-titled debut, which has sold more than 350,000 copies to date, according to Lava Records. The album features the singles "Bottom of a Bottle" and "Nowhere Kids."
