Buddy Guy keeps up busy touring schedule in 2004
Though his 67th birthday is on the horizon, blues-guitar legend Buddy Guy doesn't plan on taking it easy this year.
Guy has mapped out a busy itinerary for early 2004, beginning this month with a multi-night run at his Chicago-based club, Buddy Guy's Legends.
After getting loose on his home turf, Guy and his acoustic ensemble take to the road in mid-February for a coast-to-coast run on the North American theater circuit that wraps up at fellow blues luminary B.B. King's New York City club on March 21.
Guy keeps up the pace in early April with a handful of shows that find him teamed with the late Stevie Ray Vaughan's rhythm section, Double Trouble. Details on Guy's touring schedule appear below; additional information about his homestand in Chicago are posted at the official Buddy Guy 's Legends website.
Guy's most-recent album--the aptly titled "Blues Singer"--surfaced last June on Silvertone Records. The collection of acoustic tunes includes covers of classic blues songs from artists including John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters, Skip James and Jack Owens. The album also features guest appearances from Eric Clapton and B.B. King.
An audio stream of "Blues Singer" is available at Silvertone's Buddy Guy website.
Over the course of his career, which dates back to the '50s, Guy has sold more than 2 million albums, landed four GRAMMY ® awards and won 19 W.C. Handy Blues Awards, according to Silvertone.
