Primus keeps reunion rolling with winter tour
Primus , which last year reunited for a fall tour that marked the release of a new DVD and EP, continues to support the set with a round of winter shows.
The jaunt kicks off in late February, and dates are set through mid-March. The bulk of the itinerary focuses on the South; the group canvassed the West and Northeast during its fall run.
As was the case during the fall tour, the group will record all shows on the winter leg, and make them available as paid digital downloads at primuslive.com within 48 hours after each show, according to Primus' website. All 30 fall shows are available for purchase now.
Primus ended a three-year hiatus with the October release of a career-retrospective DVD and new EP, collectively titled "Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People." The supporting tour teams frontman/bassist Les Claypool and guitarist Larry LaLonde with original drummer Tim Alexander.
The "Animals Shold Not Try to Act Like People" DVD, which runs more than three hours, features all 12 of Primus' music videos, including "Too Many Puppies," "Southbound Pachyderm" and "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver." Also included are the award-winning short animated film "The Devil Went Down To Georgia" and the out-of-print, 1992 home-video release "Cheesy Home Video."
In addition to music videos, the DVD contains short documentaries on the making of "Mr. Krinkle" and "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver," as well as "The Making of the Brown Album (Back in Brown)," all of which have never been available before; live performances culled from every era of the band's career; backstage footage; a complete discography; a Primus photo gallery and more.
The five new songs on the companion EP are the first that Claypool and LaLonde have recorded with Alexander since 1995's "Tales from the Punchbowl."
