Urge Overkill reunites for first shows in seven years

Chicago power-pop band Urge Overkill is back on the road after a seven-year hiatus from touring, and will traverse the North American club circuit through February.
The outing kicked off earlier this month with shows in San Diego and West Hollywood, CA, and the band's Chicago homecoming is set for Feb. 14 and 15 at the Double Door.

Urge Overkill, which released its debut album in 1989, hasn't released a new set since 1995's "Exit the Dragon." Singer/guitarist Nash Kato issued his solo debut, "Debutante," in 2000.
The group scored its biggest hit with a cover of Neil Diamond's "Girl, You'll Be A Woman Soon," which was showcased during a pivotal scene in the 1994 Quentin Tarrantino film "Pulp Fiction." The track first appeared on the band's 1992 EP "Stull."
Urge--which also features founding singer/bassist Eddie "King" Roeser--issued its major-label debut, "Saturation," in 1993. The album netted two hits: "Sister Havana" and "Positive Bleeding."
Blackie Onassis, the band's longtime drummer, isn't expected to appear on the tour. The band--which previously was a trio--has been performing as a five-piece, with bassist Mike Hodgkiss (Gaza Strippers), drummer Nate Arling (The Last Vegas) and keyboardist Chris Frantisak (The Bon Mots).
