Trace Adkins is 'Comin' on Strong' with busy touring schedule

Country singer Trace Adkins logs some major miles in 2004 during a lengthy road trip that supports his recently released album "Comin' on Strong."

Adkins kicks off the outing early next month. The bulk of confirmed dates are currently concentrated in February and March, but stops are scheduled as far off as September; more dates are expected, as Adkins is poised to stay busy on the summer fair circuit.

Released in December, "Comin' on Strong" is Adkins' fifth studio effort. The set hit stores just five months after Adkins offered up his first best-of collection, "Greatest Hits Collection, Vol. 1."

"When we went in to make this album, I got lucky and found a lot of songs that spoke to a lot of experiences I've had," Adkins said in a statement, "life experiences that I’ve been through that make me who I am. What I care about most is finding material that's real--something I can sing with conviction and sink myself into."

"Comin' on Strong" features Adkins' latest hit, "Hot Mama," a cut that contains the lyrics: "You're doin' all you can / To get in them ol' jeans / You want your body back / That you had at 17 / Well baby don't get down / Don't you worry 'bout a thing / 'cause the way you fill 'em out / Hey, that's all right with me / I don't want the girl you used to be / And if you ain't noticed / The kids are fast asleep ... / You wanna?"

The song has become a fan-favorite, according to Adkins.

"Fans have started showing up at shows wearing T-shirts with big question marks on 'em saying, 'You wanna?,'" Adkins laughs. "And what’s great is it's a song that guys like too. It's perfect for a guy who wants to call up a radio station and dedicate something to his wife."

Streaming samples of all 11 cuts on "Comin' on Strong" are posted at Adkins' website.
