George Thorogood & The Destroyers set up busy tour schedule

Classic rocker George Thorogood leads his band on a lengthy road trip that marks the group's 30th anniversary.

Thorogood & The Destroyers get things started in late February, and dates so far stretch into August.

The anniversary outing also supports Thorogood & The Destroyers' most recent album, "Ride 'til I Die," which surfaced in March of last year. The group worked on the set with producer Jim Gaines, whose lengthy resume includes production and engineering duties for Santana, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Huey Lewis & The News.

"Jim was able to bring out our best," Thorogood said in a statement. "He helped us choose the material and he was invaluable in shaping it. It was Jim who heard a live recording of 'Ride 'Til I Die' and convinced us that we needed to include it on the record. His impact on this record was huge, and I hope we get to work with him again. He captured what we're all about--and that's not as easy as some might think."

Though he and his group have been recording and touring for three decades, Thorogood says he hasn't grown tired of life on the road.

"I look at touring as a privilege," he said. "When I was home during our last break, I ran into a well known rock star who shall remain nameless here. He said, 'George, man, I'm so bummed out. I've gotta go on the road to support the new record and it's only sold such and such hundred thousand copies the first month of release.' I looked at the cat and laughed. I said, 'Just listen to yourself. What did you dream about when you were a teenager? Just what you're complaining about now. Don't tell me you didn't practice your moves in front of a full length mirror and work on your look and what you were going to wear, 'cause I know better. You're living your dream. How many people can say that?' So this rock star just looked at me and nodded. He knew I was right.

"When the Destroyers go on the road, we realize we're still living our dream It doesn't matter that 30 years have gone by, we're still having fun. Let me repeat: F-U-N, fun!"
