Briefly: Dave Matthews Band, OutKast, Faith Evans, Little Richard, Courtney Love
Dave Matthews Band will be in Los Angeles to receive the Chairman's Award at the NAACP's Image Awards on March 6.
The NAACP is recognizing the band's work on social and environmental causes.
"It's a great honor to us that an institution with the history and accomplishments of the NAACP has chosen to recognize our actions," DMB said in a statement.
OutKast 's "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" remains in the top spot of the new Billboard 200 album chart, which will mark its seventh non-consecutive week at No. 1. The 2-CD set has sold almost 3.5 million copies to date.
"The Very Best of Sheryl Crow” holds on to the No. 2 spot, while Evanescence's "Fallen" jumps from No. 9 to No. 3, thanks to the recent strength of the single "My Immortal."
The compilation album "GRAMMY® Nominees 2004" enters the chart at No. 4, and Ruben Studdard's "Soulful" rebounds from No. 8 to No. 5.
R&B singer Faith Evans and her husband, Todd Russaw, reportedly were arrested last week near Atlanta on charges of marijuana and cocaine possession. Officers who pulled over their car for an improperly displayed license plate reportedly found less than an ounce of marijuana and "cocaine residue," according to published reports.
Antonio "L.A." Reid, who recently exited as the head of Arista Records, has canceled his planned keynote speech at the South by Southwest music conference and festival. Rock legend Little Richard will instead deliver the March 18 address.
Courtney Love 's trial on two felony drug-possession counts has been postponed until Feb. 11.
