G. Love & Special Sauce plot tour, continue to work on new album
G. Love & Special Sauce haven't released a new studio album in almost three years, but that's not stopping the group from heading out on a late-winter tour.
The band launches its run on March 4 in South Carolina, and dates so far are set through March 21. The Philadelphia-based act's itinerary focuses on the eastern U.S.
Fronted by G. Love (lead vocals, guitars, harmonica)--a.k.a. Garrett Dutton--and featuring band members Jim "Jimi Jazz" Prescott (acoustic bass) and Jeffrey "Thunderhouse" Clemens (drums, percussion), G. Love & Special Sauce released their most-recent studio set, "Electric Mile," in 2001. A best-of set followed in 2002.
According to a message that G. Love posted on his website last month, a follow-up is in the works.
"We are just about to sign a new record deal with Jack Johnson's new label Brushfire Records," he wrote. "I have been in the new Philadelphonic studio in Philly working on the new record. I know it's been awhile since we dropped a new record, so thanks for your patience."
Last year, a new cut titled "Rainbow," featuring G. Love and Jack Johnson, turned up on the "Thicker Than Water" soundtrack.
The group's most-recent release is 2001's "Electric Mile."
