Dave Matthews Band rolls out summer tour dates

February 19, 2004 10:55 AM
Dave Matthews, who went it alone late last year to support his Grammy-winning solo debut, reconnects with his bandmates this summer for a lengthy tour.

The reassembled Dave Matthews Band launches the outing in mid June, and is slated to hit amphitheaters throughout the U.S. and Canada until early September. More dates will be added, according to RCA Records, and ticket on-sale information hasn't been announced.

"Our time working on outside projects has made all of us really eager to get back out on the road again," violinist Boyd Tinsley said in a statement; like Matthews, Tinsley issued a solo album, titled "True Reflections," during last year's Dave Matthews Band hiatus.

Matthews' inaugural solo effort, "Some Devil," surfaced last September. The set features the cut "Gravedigger," which earlier this month won the Grammy for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.

Dave Matthews Band's most-recent studio album is 2002's "Busted Stuff." Last November, the group issued its latest live collection, "Central Park Concert," which captures the group's New York City performance last summer. The show drew more than 100,000 fans and raised over $2 million for public education and New York City parks, according to a press release.

Next month, the band heads into the studio to begin pre-production on the follow-up to "Busted Stuff." No word yet on when the new album will land in stores.
