Train gets rolling during spring tour
Train continues its support for last year's "My Private Nation" with a spring tour that kicks off next month.
The outing is due to launch on March 15 in Arkansas, and dates so far run into early April. The group is booked to play a mix of college campuses, theaters and clubs.
Tickets for many of the shows are on sale now, and registered members of the band's ticketing site have access to pre-sales. Details are posted at Train's website.
Longtime fans will notice a new face on stage with the group during the current run; last fall, former Black Crowes bassist Johnny Colt replaced Charlie Colin.
"Chris has been an important part of this band and his personality and unique playing style will be missed," the band said in a message posted on its website at the time of Colin's departure. "We are parting on good terms and neither party is closing the door on the possibility of someday working together again."
Colin left just a few months after the June release of "My Private Nation," which the group recorded in Atlanta with producer Brendan O'Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam). The set features the single "Calling All Angels," which garnered the group Grammy nominations in this year's Best Rock Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best Rock Song categories.
Train broke through with its double-platinum 2001 album, "Drops of Jupiter." The album's title track picked up the Best Rock Song Grammy for that year.
