Ghostface Killah Expands His Itinerary
Wu-Tang rapper Ghostface Killah has added six weeks to his solo tour, expanding it to prominent clubs and universities during the second half of March and April.
Touring behind "Supreme Clientele," a clever album of rapid-fire, political rap and R&B, Ghost will hit several top-line clubs around the country and will appear on the Method Man/Redman tour in Atlanta, Charlottesville, VA, and San Francisco. Late April finds him at universities in the Midwest and Northeast.
Three weeks old, "Supreme Clientele" is selling around 40,000 copies per week, typical for a rap record, according to Epic's national director of promotions.
Most of Ghost's followers come to his music through the Wu-Tang connection or are exposed to him by underground club DJs, but Epic still wants to see some mainstream radio airplay for the record. The company hopes that the single "Cherchez LaGhost" will do the job.
While the album offers several intense, stream-of-consciousness-style raps, touching on current events and on Ghost's comeback, it also juxtaposes his street commentary with audio samples from the superhero series ''Iron Man.''
