Tesla cranks out more tour dates to back new album
With its first new album in 10 years due out next month, Tesla continues making plans for a supporting club tour.
The group's outing is now due to launch next week with a flurry of acoustic shows at Hard Rock Cafes in Philadelphia, Boston, New York and Detroit, and subsequent dates now stretch into early April. Details are shown below.
One week after the tour's March 2 kick-off, Tesla issues "Into the Now," its first collection of new material since 1994's "Bust a Nut." The new album features the cut "Caught in a Dream," which recently become the No. 1 Most Added track on the Active Rock Radio and Heritage Rock charts, according to the band's publicist.
The group--vocalist Jeff Keith, guitarists Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch, bassist Brian Wheat and drummer Troy Luccketta--recorded the album at Hannon's home studio in Sacramento, and co-produced the set with Michael Rosen.
Tesla broke up in 1995, but reunited in the fall of 2000 for a sold-out arena show in its hometown of Sacramento. A tour followed, and spawned the 2001 live set "RePlugged Live."
"Mechanical Resonance," Tesla's debut album, surfaced in November of 1986, and featured the hits "Modern Day Cowboy" and "Little Suzi." The group's three subsequent releases were also certified platinum, and spawned the Top 10 hits "Love Song" and "Signs."
In all, the band has sold more than 17 million albums worldwide, according to the group's website.
