Metallica still rolling out tour dates behind 'St. Anger'
Metallica has added more dates to the second and third legs of its North American tour, which kicks off in Phoenix on Tuesday night (3/2).
Following a first leg that runs through the end of the month, the tour's second leg kicks off at New York's Nassau Coliseum on April 20, and now features a second show at that same venue on April 21. Other new additions to the itinerary are Cincinnati and North Little Rock, AR, on May 1 and 15, respectively. Tickets for all three newly added shows hit the box office on Saturday (3/6), according to Metallica's official website.
Meanwhile, the tour's third leg has grown to encompass single stops in Minnesota and Iowa, as well as three stops in Illinois, tickets for most of which will go on sale on Saturday.
On-sale information appears in the itinerary below. All other shows are on sale now.
Members of Metallica's official fan club have access to fan-club-only tickets. Details are available at the fan club's website.
Metallica is backing its latest album, last June's "St. Anger." Earlier this month, the album's title track won the Grammy for Best Metal Performance.
Boston-based rock quartet Godsmack will open during the first and second North American legs; according to a spokesperson, the group won't be on board for the third leg. No word yet on who, if anyone, will take over the opening slot.
Godsmack released its latest album, "Faceless," last April. On March 18, the group will deliver "The Other Side," an acoustic set featuring new cuts and acoustic renditions of some of the group's previously released hits. Frontman Sully Erna produced the album, and "Faceless" producer David Bottrill mixed the set.
