Avril Lavigne's mall-performance schedule emerges

Arista Records has unveiled the list of cities that Avril Lavigne will visit during her upcoming promotional tour of North American malls, which precedes the May 25 release of her sophomore album.

The teen pop-rocker is scheduled to appear at 21 malls during the six-week outing, which opens in Minneapolis on Thursday (3/4).

The tour--dubbed "Avril Live and By Surprise: Presented by AOL for Broadband"--will feature acoustic sets by Lavigne with guitarist Evan Taubenfeld. During the performances, the pair will unveil songs from Lavigne's upcoming album, "Under My Skin," including lead single "Don't Tell Me," which Lavigne and Taubenfeld wrote.

Though the tour's cities and dates were confirmed today by Lavigne's label, Arista Records, local radio stations and AOL CityGuides will announce the exact location of each performance 48 hours before every show, according to a press release. Fans can also request an email and telephone notification of the event nearest them via Arista’s avrillavigne.net website.

"Under My Skin" is the follow up to Lavigne's 2002 debut, "Let Go," which hit No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart, and has sold more than 6 million copies in the U.S. to date, according to industry sources.

Besides Taubenfeld, Lavigne collaborated on the album with Ben Moody (formerly of Evanescence) and singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk.

Lavigne is scheduled to appear on the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards on April 9, the "Today" show on May 21, "The Late Show with David Letterman" on May 24, "Live with Regis and Kelly" on May 25, and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" on May 26.
