Britney Spears adds summer U.S. dates to world tour schedule

Pop diva Britney Spears , who recently launched the spring leg of her North American tour, has now added a round of summer dates to the run.

The new stretch of shows kicks off in Hartford, CT, on June 23, and runs through early August. Tickets for most of the new dates will hit the box office on Saturday (3/6). Details are shown in the itinerary below.

Members of Spears' official fan club have access to tickets prior to the general public via online pre-sales that begin today (3/3), according to Spears' website.

The summer tour follows Spears' current North American trek--which wraps up late next month--and a late-spring European trek.

Showtime recently announced plans to air a live broadcast of Spears' March 28 performance at Miami's American Airlines Arena. The cable channel will carry the show in High Definition and Dolby Digital Surround Sound 5.1, according to a press release.

Spears' tour--which she's dubbed the Onyx Hotel Tour--supports her new album, "In the Zone."

"I'm especially looking forward to bringing my tour to new markets and performing in front of fans that may not have had the opportunity to see any of my previous tours," Spears said in a statement.

Spears last toured in 2002. The North American leg of that jaunt grossed more than $30 million, according to concert-industry magazine Pollstar.

Released on Nov. 18, "In the Zone" sold 609,000 copies during its first week in stores, and debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The set marks Spears' fourth consecutive No. 1 album.
