The Strokes extend U.S. tour, add opening acts

The Strokes , who launch a U.S. club tour next week, have added more dates to the run, and have tapped The Sounds and The Raveonettes to open.
The outing--which now stretches into mid-May--will feature The Sounds in the opening slot from the March 9 kick-off through April 2, and The Raveonettes from April 8 through April 28.
The group has not announced an opening act for the new May dates.
The Strokes are backing their October release, "Room on Fire," which features the new single "Reptilia." Last month, the band issued a limited-edition 7" vinyl version of the cut.
A CD-single release date is pending, according to the group's website. When it does surface, the CD version will include the previously unreleased track "Modern Girls & Old-Fashion Men," featuring guest vocals by Regina Spektor.
"Modern Girls & Old-Fashion Men" is also available as a stand-alone track exclusively at Apple's iTunes Music Store.
Gordon Raphael, who produced The Strokes' critically acclaimed 2001 debut, "Is This It," returned to produce "Room on Fire." The group initially began recording the new album with producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead), but those sessions were eventually scrapped.
