Mannheim Steamroller plows ahead with spring tour
Composer-musician Chip Davis, who heads up the New Age orchestra Mannheim Steamroller , heads out on the road with his group this spring for a tour that focuses on the Midwest.
According to the official Mannheim Steamroller website, the group plans to play music from its popular "Fresh Aire" series, as well as Davis' more-recent "Ambience" series.
The group has become best known for its holiday albums and its popular Christmas tour; its four holiday sets have sold a combined total of more than 18 million copies to date, according Davis' site.
The latest Mannheim Steamroller release is "Halloween," a two-disc set that includes one disc of music--including "Toccata in de Mole," "Hall of the Mountain King" and "Funeral March of the Marionette"--and one disc of scary sounds.
