Goo Goo Dolls, 98 Degrees To Play MTV New Year's Eve Party

MTV will broadcast a New Year's Eve bash featuring the Goo Goo Dolls , 98 Degrees, Bush , Blink 182, Christina Aguilera and others from the network's New York studios, which overlook Times Square.

In addition, the network has announced that 10 contest winners and 10 guests will travel around the world on their way to the New Year's celebration aboard MTV's ''Fly 2K,'' a ''custom-made, millennium party plane.'' In-flight entertainment aboard the chartered DC10 will include the Goo Goo Dolls, 98 Degrees and MTV's DJ Skribble.

''Fly 2K'' is scheduled to take off from New York on Dec. 20, and will make stops in Cairo, Rome, Paris, London, and other cities before returning to New York in time to spend New Year's Eve at MTV's studios, according to a press release issued by MTV.

Viewers will have the opportunity to enter the contest via an 800-number that will be revealed Nov. 29 by boy group 98 Degrees on ''Total Request Live,'' or by logging onto MTV.com.

MTV's international channels will also run local contests for their viewers. MTV Latin America, MTV Australia, MTV Asia, MTV Europe and MTV Russia will each select a winner and a guest to join the U.S. winners in Cairo, and continue on to New York.

Dubbed ''Times Square 2000, The Global Celebration at the Crossroads of the World,'' this year's New Year's Eve celebration in New York is being billed as the largest in Times Square's 95-year history.
