Jimmy Buffett's spring/summer tour plans continue to shape up
Island-rocker Jimmy Buffett , who has been aligning himself with country music of late, has unveiled additional tour dates that keep him on the road through August.
Among the new dates on the outing is a May 29 concert at Dallas' Texas Stadium that will also feature George Strait and Alan Jackson . Tickets for that show hit the market on March 27, according to Buffett's Margaritaville website. Tickets for many of Buffett's upcoming shows are already on the market; upcoming on-sale information is below.
More dates could be on the way; city officials in Boston reportedly have applied for entertainment licenses that would allow Buffett to play Sept. 10 and 12 concerts at Fenway Park. According to the Boston Globe, a hearing will be held on March 22 to decide whether or not the shows will take place at the historic ballpark. Additional stadium dates--possibly with Strait and Jackson--are rumored to be in the works.
Buffett is expected to issue a new album titled "Licensed to Chill" in late spring or early summer; a specific release date hasn't been announced. The album's title track, a duet featuring Buffett and country singer Kenny Chesney, is available in stores and on a CD-ROM included with the latest Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue.
Buffett's duet with Chesney follows his pairing with country singer Alan Jackson on the Grammy-nominated track "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere," which appears on Jackson's "Greatest Hits 2." In February, the song won the CMA Award for Vocal Event of the Year.
Earlier this year, Buffett issued recordings of his 2003 shows in Boston and Cincinnati. A "Live in Hawaii" CD set will follow, according to Mailboat Records' website.
