Briefly: Norah Jones, Aretha Franklin, Britney Spears, The Polyphonic Spree
Norah Jones ' "Feels Like Home" held off a strong challenge from hip-hop act Cassidy to log its sixth-straight week at No. 1 on the U.S. album chart.
Billboard reports that Jones sold about 147,000 copies of the album over the last week compared to 118,000 for Cassidy's "Split Personality." About 2.2 million copies of "Feels Like Home" have sold to date.
Occupying the No. 3 slot on The Billboard 200 chart is Evanescence's "Fallen," which climbs one place to No. 3. Jessica Simpson 's "In This Skin" falls from No. 3 to No. 4.
Godsmack's "The Other Side" makes its chart debut at No. 5.
After a five-day stay, Aretha Franklin reportedly was discharged from a Detroit hospital on Wednesday (3/24).
Her personal physician told Reuters that Franklin underwent treatment for a low platelet count, a blood problem that can cause hemorrhaging. The condition, which caused her to break out in a rash, could have been caused by a virus or an allergic reaction, the doctor reportedly said.
Franklin celebrates her 62nd birthday on Thursday (3/24).
Showtime Networks has donated for auction on eBay a full-length, black, Robert Cavalli dress the Britney Spears once wore. All proceeds will benefit the Britney Spears Foundation, which supports the annual Britney Spears Camp for the Performing Arts and other causes.
The auction opens on March 20 and closes on March 30; more information is available at eBay's Showtime site.
The Polyphonic Spree 's second album, "Together We're Heavy," will hit stores on July 13. According to Hollywood Records, the group recorded the new album over the last year with producers Eric Drew Feldman (Frank Black, Tripping Daisy) and The Speekers.
The band will appear on the April 20 episode of the NBC-TV show "Scrubs," and on the April 20 episode of "The Tonight Show."
