O.A.R. packs lengthy set list for spring college tour
O.A.R. heads out in April for a swing on the U.S. college circuit, during which the do-it-yourself rockers plan to give fans a heaping helping of music from throughout their career.
"This tour is different from anything we have ever done," singer/guitarist Marc Roberge said in a statement. "We want to bring a longer, more song-filled show to new fans and old. We have never been so excited to drive around this country."
The group is due to launch the run in early April, and dates so far are set through early May.
O.A.R. continues to support last May's "Between Now and Then," which is the group's first set for Lava Records. Prior to inking a deal with Lava, the group released four indie-label albums.
The band recorded the new album with producer John Alagia (Dave Matthews, John Mayer) and engineer Jeff Juliano.
"Working with John and Jeff is not only fun; they force you to challenge yourself," bassist Benj Gershman said in a statement. "That's a really good thing for musicians who are always trying to come up with something better and something that stands the test of time a little bit more."
"Between Now and Then" features the group's latest single, "Right on Time," which is the follow-up to the Top 40 hit "Hey Girl."
O.A.R.'s most-recent recording is a cover of the Led Zeppelin classic "Fool in the Rain," which the group recorded along with recent tourmates Robert Randolph and The Family Band. The track is available exclusively via Apple's iTunes Music Store.
O.A.R. rose to prominence by building a large grassroots following thanks to endless touring and by allowing fans to record and trade tapes of its shows.
