Briefly: Madonna, Bobby Brown, Kurt Cobain, Hanoi Rocks
Madonna 's Maverick Records label has filed suit against Warner Music Group, alleging breach of contract.
The $200 million suit--which seeks to end the 12-year-old joint venture between Warner and Maverick--alleges that Warner Music and other defendants engaged "in acts of self-dealing and secret profit-taking, falsely accounting for receipts and expenses of the partnership [and] sacrificing the interests of the partnership and its partners for defendants own self-financial interests."
R&B star Bobby Brown reportedly was freed on Thursday (3/27) from a Massachusetts jail after serving one day for failing to pay child support.
He was released after the court received $65,500 in child support that he owed the mother of two of his children.
A 1960s-era Mosrite Gospel Mark IV guitar that was owned by late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain will be auctioned on April 17 in association with the 27th Annual Dallas Guitar Show and Music Fest.
According to Heritage Galleries and Auctioneers, the auction will mark the first time one of Cobain's instruments has been for sale to the public since his 1994 suicide.
More information--and information about the dozens of other instruments that are up for auction--is available at the guitar show's website.
Prototypical hair-metal band Hanoi Rocks --which faded away after drummer Nicholas "Razzle" Dingley was killed in a 1984 car crash while riding with Motley Crue's Vince Neil, who was driving drunk--has returned for its first new album in almost two decades.
"Twelve Shots on the Rocks" features Hanoi Rocks veterans Michael Monroe (lead vocals, multi-instrumentalist) and Andy McCoy (guitar), along with newcomers Costello (guitar), Timpa (bass) and Lacu (drums).
