Tesla adds second leg to tour behind 'Into the Now'
Tesla , which recently released its first new album in a decade, has added another string of shows to its tour in support of the set.
After wrapping up the tour's current U.S. leg in Los Angeles on April 4, the group is now scheduled to return to the road on April 20 for a batch of shows that so far stretch into mid-May.
In related news, the group has moved the April 4 L.A. show from The Wiltern LG to Avalon. All tickets for the original venue will be honored at Avalon, according to the band's website.
While on the West Coast, the group is scheduled to perform on the April 1 episode of ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live."
On March 9, Tesla released "Into the Now," its first collection of new material since 1994's "Bust a Nut." The set debuted at No. 31 on The Billboard 200 album chart, and at No. 4 on Billboard's Top Internet Albums chart.
"Into the Now" features the cut "Caught in a Dream," which was crowned the No. 1 Most Added track on the Active Rock Radio and Heritage Rock charts shortly after its release, according to the band's publicist.
The group--vocalist Jeff Keith, guitarists Frank Hannon and Tommy Skeoch, bassist Brian Wheat and drummer Troy Luccketta--recorded the album at Hannon's home studio in Sacramento, CA, and co-produced the set with Michael Rosen.
Tesla broke up in 1995, but reunited in the fall of 2000 for a sold-out arena show in its hometown of Sacramento. A tour followed, and spawned the 2001 live set "RePlugged Live."
"Mechanical Resonance," Tesla's debut album, surfaced in November of 1986, and featured the hits "Modern Day Cowboy" and "Little Suzi." The group's three subsequent releases were also certified platinum.
In all, the band has sold more than 17 million albums worldwide, according to the group's website.
