Briefly: Mike Watt, Ryan Adams, 'Reality Bites,' Chumbawamba
Watt, who was a founding member of Southern California punk rockers Minutemen, has described the new album as his "illness piece," documenting his bout with a painful intestinal abscess a few years back. Watt posted diary entries about the illness on his official website.
The new album, which was recorded in Watt's hometown of San Pedro, features Watt on bass and vocals, Pete Mazich on B3 organ and backup vocals and Jerry Trebotic on drums. Petra Haden contributes back-up vocals.
Apple's iTune's music store is selling an exclusive Ryan Adams EP titled "Moroccan Role." It features three new tracks: "Ah, Life," "I'm Coming Over" and "Don't Even Know Her Name."
Adams continues to recover from the broken wrist he suffered when he fell from a stage during a January performance in Liverpool, England.
BMG Records will issue an expanded version of the "Reality Bites" soundtrack on June 8 to mark the movie's 10th anniversary. Included in the set are tracks by New Order , Arrested Development and Lisa Loeb that didn't appear on the original album.
Chumbawamba will release its 13th full-length album, titled "Un," on June 8, according to Koch Records. Among the new tracks is "On Ebay," which, according to a press release, "was written after Coalition forces stood idly by while watching the looting of the Baghdad museum."
