Prince keeps adding dates to extensive 'Musicology' tour
With his "Musicology" tour now on the road, newly inducted Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Prince continues to add stops to the outing.
The R&B star has now added concerts in San Jose, CA; San Antonio, TX; Memphis, TN; and Denver to his itinerary, and has scheduled more dates in previously announced cities Los Angeles; St. Paul, MN; Auburn Hills, MI; Rosemont, IL; East Rutherford, NJ; and Washington, DC.
The outing got underway in Reno, NV, on Saturday (3/27), and dates now stretch through August. Tickets for almost all of the dates are on sale now.
The tour will mark the final time that Prince will perform some of his most well-known hits, according to a press release. During a press conference last month, the artist said that he plans to stop performing the songs so that he can have time to play different material.
Arenas hosting the tour are being configured "in-the-round," with the stage placed in the center of the venue, according to organizers.
Backing Prince on the tour is his New Power Generation band, featuring John Blackwell (drums), Greg Boyer (trombone), Candy Dulfer (saxophone), Chance Howard (trumpet), Renato Neto (piano and synthesizers), Maceo Parker (saxophone) and Rhonda Smith (bass).
The tour supports Prince's new album "Musicology," which is now available via his NPG Music Club website. The set is scheduled to arrive in retail outlets via Columbia Records on April 20.
In February, Prince was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
