Emmylou Harris heads up Sweet Harmony Traveling Revue
Emmylou Harris teams with Patty Griffin , Buddy Miller , and Gillian Welch and David Rawlings for a three-week outing dubbed the Sweet Harmony Traveling Revue.
The tour kicks off in Atlanta on Aug. 14, and will touch down in 14 cities by month's end. The itinerary includes an Aug. 11 performance in New York City's Central Park.
The setlist in each city "will be varied, featuring ensemble performances, solo numbers and, at times, instrument swapping," according to a press release.
The artists on the bill have known each other for some time, and have collaborated on albums, shared the stage and covered each other's songs. The upcoming tour marks the first time they will work together as a unit.
Harris' latest album, "Stumble Into Grace," surfaced last September. Welch provided background vocals on the set, which is Harris' follow-up to 2000's "Red Dirt Girl."
Griffin releases her fourth studio album, "Impossible Dream," on April 20. Harris appeared on two of Griffin's previous albums.
Buddy Miller's most-recent set is 2002's "Midnight and Lonesome." Miller also played on Harris' past three albums, and has been an integral part of her touring band, Spyboy, for years.
Gillian Welch and David Rawlings write, record and tour together. Rawlings produced Welch's latest album, "Soul Journey," which hit stores last June.
Welch and Harris each won a Grammy for the soundtrack album "O Brother, Where Art Thou?," on which they sang "Didn't Leave Nobody But the Baby" with Alison Krauss.
