Briefly: Britney Spears, John 5, The Great Bamboozle, Christine McVie
Britney Spears postponed her scheduled Thursday (4/2) performance at Cleveland's Gund Arena due to an unspecified illness.
The Cleveland show has been rescheduled for June 29; tickets for the original show will be honored on the new date, according to Spears' official website.
Spears postponed two concerts last month after she suffered a knee injury, apparently during a March 18 performance in Moline, IL.
Gutiarist/songwriter John 5 has departed Marilyn Manson "to pursue other opportunities," according to a press release. He has completed a solo album that is expected to hit stores this fall, and is writing with "several multi-platinum artists" for their upcoming albums.
"I truly enjoyed my time with Manson and have the greatest respect for the incredible fans," John said in a statement. "I am grateful to have contributed over two-dozen songs to his projects. It was a great creative outlet for me at that point in my career. I've received so many calls from labels over the years about making a solo record, the timing is just perfect."
John's 12-song instrumental album is tentatively titled "Vertigo."
Sonic Youth , moe., Chris Robinson, Galactic, My Morning Jacket, Railroad Earth, Antigone Rising, Jesse Malin, M. Ward and Friends and deSoL are among the acts that are scheduled to appear at a three-day salute to the Asbury Park music scene dubbed The Great Bamboozle Arts and Culture Festival.
The second-annual edition of the event celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Stone Pony club, and takes place June 4-6 at the venue and on the surrounding block.
More information is available at the event's website.
Though she's retired from her 30-plus-year stint in Fleetwood Mac, Christine McVie hasn't given up the music business entirely. She's signed a deal with Koch Records, and is scheduled to release a new album titled "In the Meantime" on June 27.
