Pixies set sights on fall tour of North America

The Pixies , who earlier this year announced plans to reunite for a brief series of spring concerts, are laying the groundwork for a fall tour.

The group is in the midst of booking the bulk of the tour, but a handful of September, October and November "anchor dates" are confirmed, according to a press release. Ticket on-sale dates are set for those confirmed concerts; details are shown below.

Meanwhile, the band launches a round of spring warm-up dates in Minneapolis next week, and will play 13 shows throughout the western U.S. and Canada before giving a May 1 headlining performance at the Coachella Festival in Indio, CA.

A European trek follows from late May through mid-July.

Tickets for all of the group's spring North American dates sold out within minutes, and all 19,000 tickets for the band's four London performances sold out in under two hours, according to the group's publicist.

The Pixies are touring with their original line-up: vocalist/guitarist Frank Black (a.k.a. Black Francis and Charles Thompson), guitarist Joey Santiago, bassist Kim Deal and drummer David Lovering. The group last played together in 1992, when it was an opening act on U2's Zoo TV tour.

In conjunction with the reunion tour, 4AD/Beggars Banquet is planning several Pixies releases for later this year, including a DVD titled "Pixies," which houses eight Pixies videos ("Debaser," "Here Comes Your Man," "Monkey Gone to Heaven," "Velouria," "Dig For Fire/Allison," "Alec Eiffel" and "Head On"); a concert filmed in 1988 at the Town & Country Club in London; the band documentary "Gouge"; and behind-the-scenes material.

A new Pixies best-of album, tentatively titled "Wave of Mutilation - Best of Pixies," is also in the works. The set will feature 23 tracks, including "Here Comes Your Man," "Gigantic," "Allison," "Nimrod's Son," "Dig For Fire," "Monkey Gone to Heaven" and a remixed version of "Debaser."

The label has not yet announced specific release dates for any of the aforementioned projects.
