Mary Chapin Carpenter tours to introduce new album
Singer/songwriter Mary Chapin Carpenter emerges on April 27 with her first new studio album in three years, and is set to back it with a spring/summer U.S. tour.
The folk/country artist warms up for the outing with April 21 performance on "The Today Show" and an April 27 appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman." The trek is so far scheduled to run from mid-May through early August.
"Between Here and Gone," Carpenter's forthcoming release, features a dozen new, self-penned tracks, some of which were inspired by Sept. 11, 2001 and her new marriage. Carpenter co-produced the set with longtime collaborators Matt Rollings and John Jennings.
Carpenter's previous release was 2001's "Time* Sex* Love*," Which marked the meticulous writer's first new studio set in almost five years.
