The Fixx celebrates 25th anniversary with summer tour

London outfit The Fixx hits the road this summer to mark its 25th anniversary, and is poised to release a new version of its mid-'90s song "Election."

The group kicks off the outing in mid-May, and has so far scheduled a short series of dates that are scattered through August. The group's May 15 tour launch also features fellow '80s-era hitmakers Berlin .

The group features original members Cy Curnin (vocals), Jamie West-Oram (guitar), Rupert Greenall (keyboards) and Adam Woods (drums); bassist Gary Tibbs, who joined the group in 2001, rounds out the lineup.

In addition to acknowledging its anniversary, The Fixx also turns its attention to this year's U.S. presidential bid with a new version of 1996's "Election."

"It's about the hypocrisy of it all," Curnin said in a statement. "Politicians are smart enough to get elected, yet dumb enough to think it matters! I wish we--both Brits and Americans--could spend more time on education and the welfare of children than we do on bloody campaigns!"

The Fixx formed in London in 1979, and is best known for the hits "Saved By Zero," "Red Skies," "Stand or Fall" and "One Thing Leads to Another."

The group's most recent album, "Want That Life," surfaced last fall.
