Briefly: Brian Wilson, Stevie Wonder, Courtney Love, Loudon Wainwright III
Brian Wilson issues a new album titled "Gettin' In Over My Head" on June 22, which will be his first new studio set in six years.
Among the big-name guests who make appearances on the set are Paul McCartney , Elton John and Van Dyke Parks.
The album also features a duet with Wilson's late brother and former Beach Boys bandmate Carl Wilson. Brian completed the song by adding his vocals to an existing track.
Stevie Wonder will receive the Johnny Mercer Award from the Popular Music/Songwriters Hall of Fame during a June 10 celebration in New York City.
The award recognizes members of the Songwriters Hall of Fame whose work is "of such high quality and impact that it upholds the gold standard set by the legendary Johnny Mercer."
A judge has ordered Courtney Love to stand trial on felony drug charges in connection with an incident last October. Her arraignment is set for April 30.
At the time, authorities were called to Love's home in Beverly Hills to treat her for a drug overdose. While at her home, police allegedly found two legal painkillers--hydrocodone and oxycodone--for which Love had no prescription.
Folk singer/songwriter Loudon Wainwright III has made a politically charged song titled "Presidents' Day" available as a free download from his official website.
Sample lyric: "Next year at this time I hope I can say / I feel a lot better about Presidents' Day / With no George in the White House, oh happy day!"
