Jesse Malin precedes forthcoming album with North American tour
Former D Generation frontman Jesse Malin gets busy in June with a tour on the North American club circuit that leads up to the release of his sophomore set.
Malin kicks off the outing in Asbury Park, NJ, on June 6, and wraps things up with a three-night stand in New York City that runs June 24-26. The tour touches down in cities throughout the Eastern U.S., and also makes a pair of Canadian stops.
On June 29, Malin's second solo album, "The Heat," will land on U.S. shelves; the set is scheduled for a June 9 release in Europe. Malin produced the set himself, according to his website.
In a message posted on his website, Malin said he is eager to perform the new material on tour, and hinted at what type of material the new album houses.
"'The Heat' is gonna be a summer record and a band record," he wrote. "I can't wait to play these songs live with the band." The singer went on to say that, in addition to numbers that lend themselves to an all-out band performance, there are some "quiet ones on the record too! Don't worry, I haven't gone metal."
"The Heat" is the follow-up to Malin's solo debut, last year's "The Fine Art of Self-Destruction," which fellow singer/songwriter Ryan Adams produced. Adams and Pete Yorn both guest on the new set.
