Briefly: Sheryl Crow, Wango Tango, Vic Chesnutt, B.B. King, The Corrs
Sheryl Crow will perform onboard a May 4 United Airlines flight from Chicago to Los Angeles to launch a new frequent-flyer program dubbed "Miles for Music."
The program enables United Milage Plus members to earn and redeem frequent-flyer miles for the music they purchase at Connect.com, Sony's online music service.
Passengers on the flight will be invited by United and Sony, and select tracks from the performance will be available for download at mileageplusmusic.com in early May, according to a press release.
New West Records will reissue the first four albums from Athens, GA-based singer/songwriter Vic Chesnutt on June 15, according to the label.
The reissue of 1990's "Little" will include five previously unreleased tracks that were recorded on the same day as the original album, as well as new liner notes by Michael Stipe, who produced the set.
"West of Rome," first released in 1992, will feature five previously unreleased bonus tracks, including "Flying," a song that previously could be heard only in the Chesnutt documentary "Speed Racer."
"Drunk," originally released in 1993, features nine bonus tracks, eight of which were previously unreleased, as well as new liner notes by Fugazi's Ian MacKaye.
Finally, 1995's "Is the Actor Happy" will feature six previously unreleased bonus tracks, including a collaboration with Lambchop.
This year's edition of Wango Tango, an annual festival-concert hosted by Los Angeles radio station KIIS, will feature Jessica Simpson , Lenny Kravitz, Hilary Duff, Enrique Iglesias, N.E.R.D., Clay Aiken, JC Chasez, Maroon 5, Black Eyed Peas, Big Boi of OutKast and others.
The show takes place on May 15 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.
B.B. King --who recently said he would not be able to perform a June 11 homecoming concert in Indianola, MS, because of scheduled cataract surgery--has decided to postpone the surgery and to perform the show as planned.
The Corrs will issue their fourth album, "Borrowed Heaven," on May 25, and a U.S. tour is in the works for this fall.
