Alanis Morissette, Barenaked Ladies ready for U.S. amphitheater tour
Fellow Canucks Alanis Morissette and Barenaked Ladies are set to traverse the U.S. amphitheater circuit together this summer during a month-long, co-headlining tour that opens in mid-July.
According to a press release, the two acts will alternate spots on the bill throughout the 22-city outing, which has been dubbed the Au Naturale Tour.
"I've loved these crazy gentlemen for years, and it will be a true honor traveling around America making some joyful noise with them," Morissette said in a statement. "I look forward to being with a group of people who will not snicker to themselves when I say the word 'about' or 'eh.' ... Making art and cracking up on tour with the Barenaked Ladies sounds like a fantasy summer to me."
Said Steven Page of Barenaked Ladies: "As musicians we've had great admiration for Alanis. She's not afraid to speak her mind, and neither are we, so fans should expect a terrific balance of poignant fun during the course of the evening."
Morissette issues "So-Called Chaos," her fourth Maverick Records studio album, on May 18, according to the label. Morissette wrote all of the album's 10 tracks, and co-produced the set with John Shanks (Sheryl Crow, Michelle Branch) and Tim Thorney (Morissette's "Under Rug Swept").
"Everything," the album's first single, is already getting radio airplay, and a Meiert Avis-directed video for the cut will be released soon, according to the label.
Barenaked Ladies are supporting their late-2003 release "Everything to Everyone," the band's first album since 2000's "Maroon." The new set features the single "Another Postcard."
The Toronto-based group began touring behind "Everything to Everyone" last fall with an intimate theater outing dubbed the Peep Show Tour, and it followed up with an extensive arena tour.
