Punkvoter.com sets up Rock Against Bush tours
Bouncing Souls , NOFX , Lunachicks , Alkaline Trio and Jello Biafra are among the artists taking part in a series of shows organized by Punkvoter.com, a group that aims to register young voters in an effort to vote George W. Bush out of office.
The concert series, dubbed Rock Against Bush 2004, features a roster of acts who are playing a single show in late April, as well as a handful of bands that are mounting two separate, simultaneous tours.
Bouncing Souls and Avail team for a two-week stretch of shows that kicks off in Minneapolis on April 23, and wraps up in Philadelphia on May 7.
Strike Anywhere and Jade Tree United head up the movement's other full-fledged tour, which kicks off in Philadelphia on April 23 and finishes up in the nation's capital on May 16.
Meanwhile, on April 24, Lunachicks will play a single show in Washington, DC; and NOFX , Alkaline Trio , Authority Zero and Jello Biafra will share the stage for a performance in Las Vegas.
"Our goal is to educate, register and mobilize over 500,000 of today's youth as one voice," reads a message on Punkvoter.com's website. "We plan to use this election as a way to get our fans engaged in politics and evolve our movement into becoming involved locally to affect real change nationally."
Detailed information about Punkvoter.com, and about the Rock Against Bush tours, is posted at the organization's website.
