Crooner Michael Buble beefs up concert schedule
Canadian vocalist Michael Buble has added a huge helping of North American performances to his 2004 schedule.
The crooner's shows in the U.S. and Canada are broken into two stints--one that gets underway on Friday (4/30) and runs through June, and another that takes place from mid-September through early November. He's also sandwiched two European treks into his plans.
Buble is supporting a new CD/DVD, "Come Fly With Me," which hit stores last month. The CD features eight tracks, and the DVD includes live performances of 12 songs, plus interviews and backstage footage.
Buble--pronounced Boo-blay--debuted last year with a self-titled album that has since sold more than 2 million copies worldwide, according to Reprise Records. He followed it up with the Christmas album "Let It Snow."
Last year also saw the release of "Totally Buble," an album Buble never wanted to reach stores.
"They were songs I recorded for a film called 'Totally Blonde' many years ago before I was signed to 143/Reprise Records," he said in a statement posted on his official website. "The decision to release it as an album was made by the film's producer, and I had no control over stopping him.
"It is important for everyone to know, that I only want to release quality music to my fans by offering my best work and I sincerely apologize if you purchased this album."
The film's producer also authorized the release of a DVD titled "Totally Buble," about which Buble said, "The old expression 'Buyer Beware' has never been more appropriate."
Buble picked up the Best New Artist award at the 2004 Juno Awards, the Canadian equivalent to the Grammys.
