Pixies plot more fall dates, add Lollapalooza stops

The Pixies --who on Saturday (5/1) wrapped up a round of sold-out reunion-tour dates--have announced plans to play two stops on this summer's Lollapalooza tour, and have unveiled more fall headlining dates.

During a press conference held at Saturday's (5/1) Coachella Festival, the group said it will appear on the Lollapalooza bill during that tour's July 22 stop at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, CA, and its Aug. 17 stop at Randall's Island in New York City.

The group has also added to its fall schedule stops in Vancouver, British Columbia; Sacramento, CA; Lincoln, NE; Cedar Rapids, IA; Columbia, MO; Miami, FL; Orlando, FL; Milwaukee, WI; and Washington, DC. The run kicks off in early September and dates stretch into early December.

The Pixies' original line-up--vocalist/guitarist Frank Black (a.k.a. Black Francis and Charles Thompson), guitarist Joey Santiago, bassist Kim Deal and drummer David Lovering--are touring together for the first time since 1992, when the quartet was an opening act on U2's Zoo TV tour.

In addition to plotting more tour dates, The Pixies have nailed down a May 3 release date for a new best-of set and live DVD. The best-of album, titled "Wave of Mutilation," features 23 tracks, including "Here Comes Your Man," "Gigantic," "Allison," "Nimrod's Son," "Dig for Fire," "Monkey Gone to Heaven" and a remixed version of "Debaser."

The DVD, titled "Pixies," features the group's 1988 performance at the Town & Country Club in London, and also houses eight Pixies videos ("Debaser," "Here Comes Your Man," "Monkey Gone to Heaven," "Velouria," "Dig For Fire/Allison," "Alec Eiffel" and "Head On"); the band documentary "Gouge"; and behind-the-scenes material.

The group has launched a new website that features detailed information about the upcoming releases. A downloadable, digital-single version of the "Wave of Mutilation" track "Where Is My Mind?," which also includes three live cuts, is for sale at the site.

The Pixies' spring reunion outing has been a hit at the box office; tickets for all of the North American dates sold out within minutes, and all 19,000 tickets for the band's four London performances sold out in less than two hours, according to the group's publicist.
