Ani DiFranco stays busy with headlining dates, festival performances

Ani DiFranco continues supporting this year's "Educated Guess" with a spring/summer tour schedule that includes a mix of headlining stops and festival appearances.

DiFranco hits clubs and theaters through mid-May, primarily in the Northeast. She then plays at several festivals in June, followed by a handful of shows that run from late July through early August.

Singer/songwriter Joe Henry--who is supporting his most-recent album, "Tiny Voices"--opens all of DiFranco's May performances.

Last month, DiFranco mounted a two-week tour of the western U.S. and Canada, which included stops in Alaska.

DiFranco, one of the best-known figures in indie-rock, released "Educated Guess" in January. The set follows last year's "Evolve."

According to Righteous Babe Records' website, the album is, "if you want to get technical, in some ways the first 100%-Ani CD ever"; according to the DiFranco-founded label, she recorded the album at home, by herself, using an old, analog, 8-track, reel-to-reel recorder.

Righteous Babe's website features streaming samples of several "Educated Guess" tracks, as well as a free MP3 of the album cut "Origami."
