Wilco's upcoming schedule includes three Lollapalooza dates
With the release of a new album titled "A Ghost is Born" quickly approaching, Wilco is beginning to lay out some tour plans.
After warming up with a pair of May shows in their hometown of Chicago, the group is scheduled to play a festival and five club dates in June.
Also on the band's North American schedule are three August appearances on the Lollapalooza tour and a stop at Rhode Island's Newport Folk Festival.
Joining Wilco on the tour will be keyboardist/guitarist Pat Sansone (The Autumn Defense) and guitarist Nels Cline. Earlier this year, the band announced the departure of multi-instrumentalist Leroy Bach, who officially joined the band before the release of 2002's "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot."
The only remaining original members of Wilco are frontman/guitarist Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt. Drummer Glen Kotche replaced Ken Coomer before "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" was recorded, and multi-instrumentalist Jay Bennett exited after "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" was completed.
"A Ghost is Born" isn't due in stores until June 22, but it is currently streaming in its entirety at the band's website.
Wilco streamed "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" over the Internet long before the set's official release--and even before the band had signed with Nonesuch, the label that eventually released it. The set turned out to be Wilco's best-selling album to date.
Last month, Wilco called off a planned eight-city tour of North America after it was reported that Tweedy had checked himself into a Chicago rehab clinic for treatment of an addiction to painkillers that he developed while battling migraine headaches.
