Tour dates, album plans blossom for The Wallflowers
The Wallflowers get busy with a two-week tour of the West Coast before heading into the studio to begin work on a new album.
Dubbed the Back to California tour, the aptly named outing kicks off on June 10 and visits a mix of West Coast clubs, theaters and outdoor venues.
During the run, the group plans to perform some of its hits, as well as rarities and covers, and will also debut some new songs, according to a press release.
The group is using the outing to warm up for its next album, which is scheduled for release in early 2005. Brendan O'Brien--known for his work with acts such as Pearl Jam, Rage Against the Machine and Bruce Springsteen--will produce the set. Additionally, O'Brien has signed on to play guitar with the group during the upcoming tour.
"The band has been talking with Brendan about working together for a long time," frontman Jakob Dylan said in a statement, "and we're thrilled that the timing is finally right to make a record with him and get him on stage with us."
The Wallflowers' most-recent release is 2002's "Red Letter Days," which features the cuts "When You're On Top," "How Good It Can Get" and "Closer to You."
