Liz Phair [ tickets ] heads up this summer's Chicks with Attitude tour, an outing that will also feature The Cardigans [ tickets ], Katy Rose [ tickets ] and Charlotte Martin [ tickets ].

Presented by Maybelline New York, the coast-to-coast outing kicks off at the House of Blues in Chicago on Aug. 4, and will touch down at theaters in 17 U.S. cities; a lone Canadian stop is also planned. Details are shown below.

Tickets will go on sale in June, though specific on-sale dates haven't been announced. Additional details will be posted at the event's official website, according to organizers.

According to a press release, the artists "have been handpicked to represent Chicks with Attitude--strong young women on the rise who are an inspiration to other young women looking to find their own voice."

Phair is touring behind her self-titled fourth album, which she released last June. The set peaked at No. 27 on The Billboard 200 album chart, and its first single, "Why Can't I"--produced and co-written by The Matrix--rose to No. 15 on the Adult Top 40 chart.

The Cardigans offered up their most-recent album, "Long Gone Before Daylight," in April of 2003, while Rose issued her debut set, "Because I Can," in January.

Martin's debut EP, "In Parenthesis," surfaced last August. A full-length follow-up titled "On Your Shore" is due out on Aug. 10.
