Sonic Youth's tour schedule includes more than Lollapalooza
Though Sonic Youth 's summer tour schedule is dominated by the group's Lollapalooza appearances, the New York alt-rock mainstays will also headline some shows on Lollapalooza's off days.
The band, which is scheduled to issue its 19th album, "Sonic Nurse," on June 8, warms up with appearances at New Jersey's Great Bamboozle Festival, followed by a June 10 club date in West Hollywood, CA. While in the Los Angeles area, the group will also make a June 9 appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
Lollapalooza, which opens in mid-July, has a two-day format this summer. Sonic Youth is a main-stage act on day one in each city, along with Morrissey, Modest Mouse, Le Tigre, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and others.
In the midst of Lollapalooza, the band also will play club gigs in Phoenix, Las Vegas, Milwaukee, Montreal, Ottawa and Portland, OR.
"Sonic Nurse" features 10 new tracks, including "Unmade Bed," which has been shipped to radio stations. The album track "I Love You Golden Blue" is streaming at Sonic Youth's website, along with samples of the album's other songs.
A new Sonic Youth DVD titled "Corporate Ghost - The Videos: 1990-2002," which collects all of the group's official music videos along with commentary and other previously unreleased bonuses, also is set for release on June 8.
