Courtney Love sets out on inaugural solo tour

Courtney Love , who formerly fronted the alt-rock group Hole, mounts her first official solo tour this summer.

Love has lined up club shows throughout the U.S., beginning with a performance in New Haven, CT, on June 18. The run works its way west before winding up in Los Angeles on July 23. Details appear below.

Tickets for a number of shows are already on sale, and registered users of Love's website have access to exclusive ticket pre-sales. More information is posted at the site.

Love is backing her February release, "America's Sweetheart," which is her first solo album, and her first release since Hole's 1998 swan-song, "Celebrity Skin." The singer, who is the widow of the late Kurt Cobain, announced the end of Hole in May of 2002.

The launch of "America's Sweetheart" has been largely overshadowed by Love's ongoing barrage of legal woes. Last October, Love was arrested for allegedly trying to break into her former manager/boyfriend's home, and was charged with misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct and being under the influence of a controlled substance. Later the same day, Oct. 2, Love was arrested and charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance.

Earlier this month, Love pleaded innocent to charges of assault and reckless endangerment for allegedly hitting a fan in the head with a microphone stand during a March performance.

Separate court cases for all charges are still pending.
